šŸ°apples, pies and milkshakes

Good morning, Louisville!

Your official dad joke of the week is here:

I’m reading a book on anti-gravity. It’s impossible to put down.

Let's get right to it.

Huber’s Orchard: U-Pick Apples and Pumpkins šŸšŸŽƒ

  • When: Sat–Sun, daytime

  • Where: 19816 Huber Rd, Borden/Starlight, IN 47106

  • Price: Small wagon-access fee. Produce by the pound.

  • Book: Click here for prices and harvest schedule

  • Weather: Sunny fields. Bring a hat.
A quick country outing that’s close to Louisville. Ride the wagon, pick apples, choose a pumpkin, then grab cider slushies. The market has cheeses, breads, and easy dinner add-ons. It’s fresh air, photos, and food in one place.

Bardstown Road Farmers’ Market šŸŽšŸ„–

  • When: Sat, 9 am–noon

  • Where: 1722 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, KY 40205

  • Price: Free entry. Vendor prices vary.

  • Info: Link

  • Weather: Cool morning.
Why we like it: Small, friendly, and always has the best fruits & produce. We love the eggs too.

WHERE TO EAT

šŸ° Pie Kitchen – Scratch-Baked Desserts & Ice Cream

šŸ“ Where: 2525 Bardstown Road (have more locations)
šŸ•° Hours: Vary by location — best to check your nearest shop
šŸ’µ Price Range: $$
šŸ”— Menu: Click here

Pie Kitchen specializes in scratch-made pies, cakes, cookies, cupcakes, and small-batch ice cream. Everything from the crusts to the fillings and icings is made in-house.

Must-Try: I’m torn between the rich chocolate pecan pie (Kentucky bourbon infused) and the classic chocolate German cake. You really can’t go wrong with either choice. Our kids love the milkshakes but I always go for the black coffee.

Enjoy your weekend!

Pat.
