Happy New Year, Louisville!

The holidays are winding down. But there are still plenty of ways to keep the kids busy this weekend.

Here are five local activities to check out.

1. Life-sized dinosaurs at the Expo Center

See giant dinosaurs that move and roar. This indoor event features a dinosaur dig and a scavenger hunt. Kids can also ride on the back of a T-Rex.

2. Nature play at Bernheim Forest

Explore the woods during ECO Kids Discovery Day. Children can visit discovery stations to learn about winter nature. It is a great way to get some fresh air.

  • When: Saturday, Jan. 3 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Where: Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest, 2075 Clermont Rd, Clermont, KY 40110

  • Cost: Free. There is a $15 parking fee for non-members.

3. Last chance for holiday trees

The "Lights on Main" exhibit ends this weekend. Your family can walk through three floors of the museum to see 100 themed Christmas trees. Local businesses decorated each one.

4. Playtime at the Shively Library

The Hooray for Play program is a casual morning for young children. Kids can socialize and work on simple crafts. It is a perfect indoor spot for toddlers.

5. Hands-on art at the Science Center

Creative kids can join the Linocut Stamp Making workshop. Participants will learn how to carve their own stamps. This activity is best for older children and teens.
