horse and ice cream cone

Good morning, Louisville

Did you know that one of Kentucky's most peculiar supposed laws specifically forbids carrying an ice cream cone in your back pocket?

The strange reason? Horse theft prevention!

According to local legend, this unusual regulation was created to close a clever loophole used by horse thieves. Crafty criminals would allegedly place ice cream cones in their back pockets to lure valuable horses away from their rightful owners. When caught with someone else's horse, the thief could simply claim innocence - "The horse just followed me home on its own!"

While historians debate whether this law was ever officially codified or enforced in Louisville and throughout Kentucky, it remains one of the state's most frequently cited odd legal curiosities.
