🐾 Waggin' Tail and Yacht Rock In Louisville

plus ice cream nachos

Good morning, Louisville!
I hope you are having a terrific morning and here is a bad dad joke for you.

Why did the dog sit in the shade at Waterfront Park?

Because he didn’t want to be a hot dog! 🌭🐶

Lets get into today’s newsletter…

What to expect:
Back for its 31st year, Waggin’ Tail is the Kentuckiana region’s biggest dog-friendly festival—drawing 1,000+ pups and their people. Families can enjoy face painting, food trucks, live music, and puppy cuddling. Dogs can score canine tattoos, portraits, and meet adoptable furry friends.

šŸ» Plus: Craft brews for grownups and swag bags for early ticket buyers.

Pet policy:
Pups must be leashed and current on vaccines.

Why it matters:
Since 1998, this event has raised over $1 million for the Kentucky Humane Society—helping care for more than 6,000 animals every year. Last year alone brought in over $100,000. Every tail wag supports a good cause.

⛵ Sailing Into Summer Brings Yacht Rock to the Riverfront

What to expect:
Louisville’s smoothest summer kickoff is back. Tony & The Tan Lines take the stage with yacht rock hits as the sun sets over the Ohio. Expect high vibes, breezy beats, and riverside views.

šŸ— Food by award-winning North of Bourbon and drinks from a full bar serving beer, bourbon, and cocktails.

Why it matters:
Proceeds benefit Friends of Waterfront Park, helping fund maintenance and programs for one of Louisville’s most beloved public spaces. Supporting the waterfront never sounded so good.

WHERE TO EAT:
šŸ¦ Dean’s Ice Cream Serves Up Sweet Nostalgia in Goshen

  • When: Seasonal (March–Fall) • Weekends early in the season, daily hours in summer

  • Where: Former Goshen General Store, 11940 W U.S. Hwy 42, Goshen, KY

  • Cost: House-made, small-batch ice cream with generous scoops (prices vary)

  • More Info: šŸ“ø Click here

We love their ice-cream nachos!!

What to expect:
Think old-school charm meets handcrafted quality. Dean’s dishes out hard and soft-serve, milkshakes, flurries, banana splits, and (new for 2025) ice cream flights. Cozy vibes, waffle cones, and a community-first feel give this spot vintage New York ice cream parlor energy—right here in Oldham County.

Why it matters:
It’s more than ice cream. The Streichers opened Dean’s in 2023 to honor their late father and fill a local gap for sweet treats. What started as a dream became a hub for neighbors to gather post-pandemic and build new traditions—one scoop at a time.

Enjoy your weekend!
Pat.
